I want to extend a personal welcome to you as the Pastor of Nativity, I am Pastor Drew Parrish. Call me Pastor Drew.
Although this is my first church as a pastor, I have been a music director, small groups director, and redeveloper in mostly Lutheran churches (of all sizes, small and large) full time since 1997, about 25 years. My passions include helping churches of all sizes define their identity through worship experiences that reflect the local culture represented in the local neighborhood surrounding the church. I work to build multicultural worship, and I am always looking for ways to express the love of Christ to communities different from my own, I welcome and seek your ideas and participation.
In my work here at Nativity, I have been engaging the local community to learn what defines our community’s passions and spiritual needs. I also look forward to getting to know more about you and your family's passions, and what ways we might become partners who work together as neighbors. I am passionate about children and young people discovering their own gifts and talents; giving youth permission to express the future culture of the church and community in innovative and exciting ways. I have a passion for leadership development, and a second Master’s in Ministry Leadership, in addition to my MDiv.
My own family consists of my wife, Amanda, my three children, Lillie, Taylor, and Quinn, my two dogs Ralph and Neville, and my cat Beck. My mom and dad live in Annapolis, and I live across the bridge from Alexandria in Southern Maryland. I am passionate about seeing the local church come alive, and that happens through being present and active here locally and in the community.
My passions and hobbies include working on vehicles and performing/recording Contemporary Christian worship music. I will work with Nativity on our virtual online presence, and our physical in-person presence, especially working to create a network of young LGBTQ-affirming artists and an artist community that centers its life around Nativity and the Metro DC synod of the Lutheran church. Please feel free to seek me out and to schedule time to meet one another and to grow in faith together.
